SHOT Show 2007 - January 13th
by John Caradimas (John, )
The lack of significant attendence was evident today as well. Most large manufacturers commented badly about it. Also NSSF was commented badly for the placement of the booths. It was indeed wierd to enter the SHOT Show floor and find in front of you all kind of small companies selling anything from hunting decoys to knives and clothing. The firearm manufacturers were hidden in the back. Also, the placement of the booths left a lot to be desired. Here is a large, multinational manufacturer, with a huge booth who has paid several thousands $$$ for, and right next to him there is a company selling camo underwear. I know of several people who were not happy at all with this year's SHOT Show.
In any case, here are the latest news from the Show.
- Double Star
This company is just entering the 1911 world, and they had the following three prototype models in their booth.
The three models shown consisted of one GI-style, no-frills model, and two more upgraded ones, the one with tight cocking serration (front and rear) and Novak Low Mount sight at the rear, while the other one has Kimber-lookalike sights and wider cocking serrations. Unexpectedly though, both of these upgraded models have the standard spure hammer and grip safety. The prototypes shown were cast, but according to the company the production versions will be forged.
- KG Coatings
Well, Joe Fazzio did it again. This is a very unique pistol that KG Coatings made for an American shooter.
The pistol is coated with KG GunKote in red, blue and white colors, in an abstract pattern. The owner wanted to show his appreciation to the American troops.
Here is Joe's son holding the pistol, which is a Para Ordnance P14-45.
And here you see the happy owner with Para's Todd Jarret.
- Various
Well, those of you who frequent out Forums Site should be well aware of the ... Gunny.
Unfortunately, as you can see, the Gunny flew over to the Tupperware's camp, were people were standing in line for about 30 minutes, to get his autograph.
The benefits of working hard to bring you the latest news from the SHOT Show, LORL.
